Introduction

I have always felt to be an artist, but I have not been a productive one.  This is the beginning of changing all that.

I feel very strongly about style, and am confident that I've had my own my whole life.  It's one of those things I've always felt set me apart from people. The way I do things, the movements, the words, the import weighed.  There is no better expression of individuality, and this has been my life's obsession.  Self - myself as an individual, how I was shaped, how I came to be me.  How I do things differently than others and the images and words that whirl in my brain.  If an unexamined life is not worth living, then mine has an extraordinarily high value.  It certainly does to me.

Here I will share with you my artistic expression, in writing to you, in sharing my photographs and my opinions on media and other forms of art. Sharing my love of food and cooking.  My "Snow White" approach to animals.

Food:  food is one of the greatest pleasures in life.  I have many handed-down and personal recipes that I will share with you.  Few things to me are as fulfilling as feeding friends (and finding alliterations), and I have a satisfying mastery of the kitchen.

Photography:  The most important thing to know is that I was born legally blind.  I am severely myopic, with astigmatism, semi-detached retinas, photophobia, and giant, constant floaters.  Nobody knew this about me until I went to first grade, having gone through kindergarten without arousing any suspicions.  In first grade, the teacher thought I was developmentally disabled, and the resulting IQ test is how we all learned I was both blind and a genius.  I will at some point describe to you what it is like to look through my eyes without contacts or glasses.  It's the foundation of me.

My photography can be both stark and dreamy, and I tend to take pictures that look like paintings.  There tends to be a theme of singularity - of aloneness, uniqueness, the power of one.  All of my photos published here are available as royalty-free purchases unless otherwise noted.

Reviews:  I am a great consumer of media.  I love streaming television and am passionate about not watching commercials.  I have an absolutely voracious appetite for books, my intake is prodigious, and books I like are sure to be read more than once.

I can be snotty.  But I am not always serious.

And every now and then, I will write a poem.

I hope you enjoy visiting, and I really hope to sell some photography.  I live in New York City, and can't really afford to do so, but would dearly like to stay until I retire.
